when I get sick of my hair and wear it up a lot, it destroys it, but I have never had trouble when straightening it, but the way I blow it out, I don't have to work too hard with the straightener.
If you are going to wear it up, make sure it is not too tight, and when you straigthen, make sure to protect it with the right products, and my making sure you aren't unnecessarily over straightening.

My hairs just below my shoulders and its really thin, I also want a side fringe, any suggestions on how i should have it?
On the contrary, shorter hair gives off the appearance of thicker hair. (simply letting hair grow long pretty much doesn't do you any justice, seeing that it just hangs down)
With that also said ends need to be trimmed every six-eight weeks to rid of any split-ends or damage anyways.

Make rollers your best friend.
They are a quick way to get volume.
I prefer to do this when hair has been blown out and is still just a tad bit damp. Add large size rollers to your hair. (be neat and take your time when rolling!) You don't have to roll your entire head, just the crown will do. When that is completed spritz volumizing spray. With the rollers still in place blowdry for five minutes, at least, then let hair set for 10-15 minutes before undoing.
When undoing your hair will have more volume to it, there is a method called "teasing" that will also increase the volume.
Lastly set with hairspray for the style to hold.
When getting your hair cut at the salon be sure to have a picture on hand to show the stylist upfront. This will give her and idea of what you want.

If you want to do anything at least remotely different and that will flatter you, you will have to go above the shoulders.
If you have an oval shape face you can do anything. Any haircut complements oval shape.
go to hair salon where you can find them on 88db, find a hair stylist and let them know what you want, i'm sure they are able to fix your hair according to what you want
i have horrible hair (i think its genetic); its really thin and dry out with frizz. is there any good shampoo and conditioners out there that would help? i was looking at the paul mitchell and Matrix biolage but not sure if it works so don't want to waste money on it. any suggestions would be helpful, thank you.
I think that the Matrix Biolage will weight your hair down. I would try the Matrix Amplify shampoo and conditioner. They have the shampoo for normal hair or colored hair. The shampoo and conditioner are formulated to work together to give you body and they also moisturize. They are for fine, thin hair. They will give you enough moisture to help with the frizz too. This conditioner will NOT weigh your hair down. It's great.
Aussie is the best for frizzy hair. Avoid pantene it builds up in your hair and makes it look dirty. I have really frizzy hair and i have found Aussie to be the best.

I also have fine hair. it's dry due to highlighting, highlighting, frosting, coloring, coloring, coloring, coloring, highlighting, and coloring again. Haha. that's just over the last 2 years. And i also straighten my hair 4 or 5 days out of the week.
my hair was really healthy, until the last time i dyed it. Then it got super dry and nasty and frizzy.
I was getting to the point where i could only shampoo every other day, and i'd have to use a deep conditoner that day and when I didn't shampoo. Even then it was nasty.
I seriously am in love (lol) with Dove Advanced care therapy shampoo and conditioner, for severely dry and damaged hair.
it doesn't leave nasty build up (Pantene is horrible.. absolutely horrible for that.. i used my friends shampoo once and my hair was horribly greasy the next morning. I didn't even use conditioner.)
And the brands you mentioned here aren't very good at all compared to dove.
The shampoo is thick and creamy, but still cleans. Then i swear the conditoner actually absorbs into my hair, so i have to use like twice as much as i normally do. Which is only the same amount of shampoo for me, but still. It's really thick too.
Since it puts moisture in, it makes my hair more volumized at the roots. Which is where i needed it.
After 5 days, your hair will be great :-)

You can also get a free sample from dove.com, but you can't really know unless you use it for a week or so.

EEHh Emm. Pantene DOES NOT build up. I've used tons to know the facts and i have similar hair to that of our uninformed guest. The shampoo doesn't matter a Whole lot.. it just washes your hair getting ride of the oily feeling. Go ahead and pick up some Tresseme conditioner, and you won't regret it. Make sure you leave it in for 3-5 min. and wash it out all the way. Your hair will be lookin awesome in NO time. The frizz will be knocked down by this time but buy an anti-frizz shine serum as well. These products will Drastically help your hair/overall appearance. For shine serums I highly recommend Garnier fructus, Neutrogena, and citre shine. Go gettem tiger!!!

5 Tips to Care for Thinning Hair
People lose hair for various reasons. Illness and medication (like chemotherapy to treat cancer) can cause hair loss. Hair loss can also be inherited from a parent. Often, hair thins because it is fine-textured -- or because too many harsh chemicals have been used on it -- so it breaks easily.
These are hair-care tips to help protect hair, prevent further hair loss, and add volume to your existing hair.
1. Try Coloring
If you inherited a tendency for hair loss, you likely have very healthy hair overall. Therefore, your hair can benefit from permanent or semi-permanent color to give body and volume to hair.
Medications can weaken hair, causing it to break or fall out. Semi-permanent color is good in this case, too, because it does not contain ammonia or peroxide. It will not damage hair, but will give it body and volume.
If your hair is fine-textured, semi-permanent or permanent color is fine, as long as it is professionally applied. Colored hair can easily get over-processed, which damages it, causing further hair loss.
2. Use Volumizing Products
Many volume-building hair products contain paraffin, which is beeswax. That's not good for hair, because it builds up and can make hair break.
However, volumizing products sold in salons do help. They won't weigh hair down, and they won't damage it. Mousse, for example, can be applied at the root area for support. Then, begin blow-drying the root area, applying tension with a brush to build volume. Use a light finishing spray to hold it.
3. Shampoo and Condition Your Hair When Dirty
To protect hair, the best practice is to shampoo only when hair is dirty. Because fine hair gets dirty faster, people with fine-textured hair need to shampoo more frequently -- even though fine hair breaks more easily.
For that reason, fine-textured hair benefits from a good shampoo and volume-building conditioner.
4. Find a Style That Suits Fine Hair
Blow dryers should not be a problem, even if you have fine hair. However, be very careful about putting high heat directly onto hair. Flat irons and curling irons can cause damage and breakage.
Because they contain very strong chemicals, curl-relaxing products are a no-no for fine hair.
5. Get a Permanent Wave
Permanents can help give volume to fine-textured hair -- but hair must be healthy, not dry or brittle. Only a gentle body wave is advised, because tighter waves can damage the hair. Because chemicals in permanents are harsh, a permanent should be only a last resort for fine-haired people.
Again, make sure a professional stylist gives you your permanent, so that hair is not damaged.

There are many causes of thinning hair. Poor diet is one. If you're not eating enough or are eating unhealthy foods, that can cause hair loss. Certain medications can do it, as can stress, over-treating hair, and a whole host of other things. Talk to your doctor who can help you figure it out. Unfortunately, it can also just happen naturally. There are treatments out there than can help, but your doctor is going to be the best person to help you figure out what is going on.
Actually, stress can cause you to have thinning hair. As you grow older, you hair will thin out some. Losing hair daily as you brush and wash your hair is all normal. If you feel you are losing more than 200 strand of hair a day, it's nothing to worry about. One other possibility could be and over active thyroid.
Stress can be a factor but also if your thyroid isn't functioning properly you can have major hair loss. Go to a doctor and have it checked. It is just a simple blood test.
i can tell you two major reasons - stress and malnutrition (not getting enough nutrients, anorexia, bulimia, starving/depriving your body).
Jackie, honey, I suggest you STOP all hair products, and also straightening your hair. Give it a chance to BREATHE. All of those products "cake" on the shaft of the hair and then your hair can't breathe. It will be hard for a time but if you want beautiful, full hair again it will be worth the hassle. Also, use like baby shampoo on your head as it is the mildest shampoo out there, also use their no tangle stuff as well. I am truly sorry that you are going thru this at this age. Straightening your hair every day AND using hairspray? yeah thats the problem. Straightening your hair every day is not good for your hair. It makes it weak and brittle. And using hairspray isnt that bad... unless you comb out the hairspray instead of wash it out. If you pull your hair back in a ponytail or bun alot that can also cause your hair to fall out.
stop straightening your hair! My friend got her hair perminetly straightend. Its just like getting a perm. Also i suggest switching to Fructis Garnier shampoo and conditioner. Use Garnier Hair-strengthening/ thick long hair shampoo and for conditioner use Garnier long-and striaght. now... i dont think they are called those exact names but its something like that.
also...your hair could be dry maybe because you wash it too much. That strips your hair of your natural oils. try to wash it every other day.

You would be supprised how little stress it takes to make your hair fall out. Try using a more natural hairspray or just less.. .Also keep it away from your scalp. There is a really good shampoo called Nioxin. You can buy at some hair salons, sometimes CostCo, and other beauty supply stores. They have hair products too that are really good. It's a little expensive but if you get the really big bottle its a bit cheaper and you only use a little at a time.
What is your natural color? If it is black try to go a bit lighter (medium to dark brown) Black is harsh looking on most people unless you are a beauty queen.

i don't know about that, but my natural hair color is black and i bleached it to like a medium-lightish brown and now it looks a bit thinner......so i guess the answer to your question might be yes??
That can backfire badly... it might make your hair look thicker, then again, it might just make the sparse hair stand out against the scalp even more.
Ask your hair stylist what he/she would recommend. There are some products [like keratin powder] which make your hair appear thicker and fuller. Without seeing the texture and thickness of your hair, though, I can't really tell you what would work best for you.
