Answer for thin hair bacause of radiation therapy?

I had hodgekins lymphoma in my right neck, I went through chemo and radiation. The radiation wiped out my hair in a perfect line all around my head at about the bottom of my ear, circling around the back(even cut a straight line in my beard). My hair has now completely come back, but it's thinner where it was missing. My question is would something like rogaine, or the like, be able to fill these areas out(not worried about the beard, it's not noticable anyway, grows fairly evenly)? Can you focus those kinds of treatments? Anyone with firsthand knowledge or any help would grealty appreciate it.

Be happy to have survived! Congratulations! I had a similar issue when I had radiation. My tumor was wrapped around my neck, so my radiation was in that area. My hair on the back of my neck and about halfway up the back of my head has never come back. At least I can do the comb-over now. It's been 3 years. Don't know what else to do!

Best wishes

Hi! First of all, I wish you good recovery and regaining of strength. The worst part is behind you.

Chemo and radiation poison the human body with toxins and deplete Glutathione levels. Glutathione is a molecule found and produced in every cell of the body. It is responsible for the proper functioning of the immune system, detoxification, recycling of antioxidants and several other things. In a nutshell, Glutathione is the first line defense against diseases. Best resource of information is in the book "Glutathione. Your body's most powerful protector" by Jimmy Gutman, MD, researcher and emergency physician. Chapter 5 of this book addresses Cancer and the role of Glutathione in cancer prevention, cancer treatments, and recovery. There has been a tremendous research done on this molecule and its importance. You can find it all on www.pubmed.gov - the national depository of published medical articles. This is not just empty words, you can find over 80,000 medical articles on www.pubmed.gov concerning glutathione and over 10,000 for the combination 閳ユ窌lutathione cancer 閳? I have not read them all but every single one I have read says elevated levels of Glutathione help and low levels are detrimental. Also, look into a product Immunocal. It is clinically proven to raise Glutathione in the body and help the body to heal naturally. It has 7 method of use patens including Patent # 5,888,552 dated 3-30-1999 that reads "Anti-Cancer Therapeutic Compositions Containing Whey Protein Concentrate", and is listed the U.S. Physicians閳?Desk Reference (PDR) and the Pharmacist閳ユ獨 Red Book. Clinical studies with Immunocal can also be found on pubmed.gov. If you'd like more information, please contact me at orklein@optonline.net

Hope this all helps. Olga

Congratulations my fellow survivor. I lost all my hair from chemo, and I have found that Pantene ProV's new line has a shampoo, conditioner, and mask that will have your hair thicker within a week or two. The kind I use is called Time Renewal and has a green stripe on the bottle. You could use the mask on just the areas that are thinner, and it should help out a lot. Good luck!
