My hair is thinning at the front of my scalp?

I'm only 19 (almost 20) but in the past 6 months or so, my hairline right above my forehead has started to drastically thin. Funny thing is I'm known for having very thick hair, and it's still thick, but it's just my part that has started to really thin. Don't quote me but it my be hereditary. So saying that it might be, what can I do to prevent it? -- For the past two months I've started taking hair, skin and nail vitamins, drinking lots of water. I'm still however using appliances like a hair-dryer though, and usually wash my hair once every two days. Please help me, I really don't want my whole scalp showing my the time I'm in my late 20's.

Go to the doctor. There could be any number of reasons for thinning hair - and just as many cures. You really can't find an answer until you know the cause of the problem.

That's really weird. When my sister was 18, her hair was thinning out in front of her scalp (she's now 22). She tried almost everything. She experienced itching with the hair loss, too. Do you experience the same thing? For now it stopped, but her hair is falling out. I think it's from stress or some kind of skin disorder. I really wish you'll find out so I can tell her. Good luck!

That's not going to happen but all the vitamins in the world aren't going to help either. If it is hereditary then there isn't anything you'll be able to do about it anyway. Since the remainder of your hair has stayed thick, I don't see anything that might indicate an illness. An under-active thyroid can cause hair thinning but that would have to be checked by blood work. If it is absolutely noticeable and you've exhausted everything else you can always try a re-growth system like Minoxidil (Rogaine) but there are side effects! I'd see a doctor first. Good luck!

when you come out of the shower, what do you do? do you let it dry?

when you come out of the shower be sure to really lightly and delicately comb it with a very wide-comb. nothing to hard, something delicate and do it verrrry delicately.

also, when you shower, rub the shampoo really gently, not super fast like you see in movies or whatever. massage it in and be really careful, when your hair is wet its really delicate.

thats the best advice on hair ive ever gotten. when its wet its delicate so be very careful.
