I am a 25yr old girl and I have thinning hair, what can i do??

I think that the thinning is premature. You need to check with family members to see if the condition is genetic...you doctor will ask you this. You might as well be one step ahead in this.

As I mentioned you need to seek professional advice of you physician. If you know that there is some genetics involved tell him up front. It could also be a side affect of medication that you might be taking or stress. Give the physician all the details. You might want to try to think when you first noticed the thinning and what was going on in your life at that time.

If you changed hair styling products or tried a new procedure in hairstyling you may need to consult your hairstylist as well. Is it a chemical reaction that you are experiencing??

At your age, you should not have thinning hair. I lost a lot of hair around 20 years of age, and not all of it grew back. The doctor had the cause in my case. I strongly suggest you see a doctor. The only other question I would have is do you have a weave, or keep it in a tight pony tail, or pull your hair taut in any way? This will cause PERMANENT hair loss over time. If you are not pulling your hair, see a doc. Really.

I strongly suggest you see a doctor about your hair. There can be several reasons for it. Medical conditions like lupus can cause it. You can also check out P.C.O.S. (polycystic ovarian syndrome) which can cause alopecia. If you are experiencing other symptoms on the list for pcos, make an appointment with an endocrinologist or a gyn trained in endocrinology.

Aside from medical conditions, heredity may also be a reason. Other possible reasons: stress, pulling hair back tightly for long lengths of time (ponytails, buns, braids...), poor nutrition, and even unconsciously pulling your own hair out.

Before you go spend a ton of money on thickening products or scalp treatments, get a medical checkup and be sure the doc is thorough. After that, you'll know the best way to proceed. Good luck.
