hey ladies help me out plz..i have super thick,wavy hair(shoulder length) that looks not as bad as normal with straightening/blowdrying.it only looks as good as i want it to if i do it @ the salon..but i dont have enough time or money to do that..so i want to get it thinned.but i dont know how it will work..will it work? what do they do? i dont want to cut it because the length is good but it's too thick..help me plz i have tried everything my self esteem really suffers from my hair problems..=(

well im not a gurl but i have the poofiest thickest curliest hair ever so i normally just go to my stylist about once a month to get my hair thinned. you can tell them not to lose any length and it will be thinner than ever. they use these weird kind of scissors and maybe a little razor and it works really great. you can go as thin or as thick as you want just be open with your stylist and ask about how to keep your new hair in good conditions

Thinning it out does make it look thinner. But also can make the split ends worse and flyaway!............

To have your hair thinned you will need it thinned with a razor or thinning scissors.

I have found this very severe on the ends of the hair.

Quite often I have seen girls with split ends and very dry looking hair because of this process.

I don't think it is worth it although it is the trend to have your hair done this way.

i have naturally thick, straight hair. so when i had it permed it was a big, pouffy mess. but fortunately, i have a good stylist that gave me a good hair cut, WITHOUT losing length. but to do this, she had to give me a textured style with lots of short pieces cut in--my hair was not "thinned" but shaped.

personally, i am willing to pay some $$$ for a good hair style. i wouldn't go to a regular stripmall haircut place. save up and go to a reputable salon. so i guess that's all i can suggest =\

(also, when you're at the salon, ask the stylist's opinion...it's in their best intrest to make you look great, so that you will come back to them and hopefully refer your friends to them too)

Thinning the hair removes bulk but adds puffiness. Try a layered style that will reduce the amount of hair and the time it takes to create the look that you want. Also you need the tools that we use in the salon. If you don't use the products that control your hair and keep it in good condition that your stylist uses while your at the salon you will not be able to easily recreate the look that she sends you out of the salon with. A Chi iron or other quality ceramic iron will help also.

The best thing I've personally used for thinning hair is massage thrice aweek with ALMA or Vatika coconut oil (find in indian store), some MSM, biotin and Niacin suplements. If you cant get to the indian oils daily massage of Polysorbate 80 with Shapley's Mane-Tail-growth oil (MTG) should do the trick. You could order them both online!:-)

Talk to your doctor about medications. I don't believe they'll grow back the hair you've lost, but if started early enough, they will prevent further hair loss.

Imagine normal sissors but with teeth, the teeth cut hair and the non-teeth parts do not. They can also use a straight razer to thin out hair by layering it. As far as I know neither damages the hair, what youshould worry about is higlighting and coloring your hair, that is damaging.
